Multiple sclerosis is a chronic disease that affects the brain and spinal cord, due to myelin damage. This damage can be caused by an autoimmune disease that brings on a number of symptoms. People with multiple sclerosis sufferer from imbalance, muscle weakness, astigmatism and tremors. Remission can occur temporarily. Thankfully today, there are ways to reverse MS, as discussed below.

As with many diseases, nutrition is a key factor, and multiple sclerosis is not exempt. That means that poor nutrition can be a factor in the development of the disease, as well as its progression. An improvement in the diet can reverse symptoms. When one eats right, the brain and the body receive the proper nutrients, and with multiple sclerosis, brain shrinkage is evident. Therefore, one must feed the mitochondria with omega-3 fats, creatine, and coenzyme Q10.

Additionally, the body requires more vitamin D intake, more sulfur, and iodine. These three can actually help improve one's symptoms. This is the Paleo Diet, which is meant to give the body everything it needs to stay healthy and fight off disease is, while strengthening the immune system. In order to do this, one must bid farewell to the Western diet, known for increasing the risk of developing numerous diseases.

That means eating plenty of greens and sulfur-rich vegetables, as well as bright colored fruits and vegetables. It means increasing the amount of wild fish consumed, and decreasing the amount of regular red meat. Instead, people have to eat more grass fed meat, and seaweed which is rich in iodine and selenium.

Unfortunately for some people, it also requires putting an end to eating any processed foods. In addition to processed foods, grains, corn, and potatoes should be avoided altogether. Moreover, few people are getting the right amount of vitamin D, and vitamin D deficiency is extremely common these days. Therefore, get more sun exposure, use tanning beds, and/or take vitamin D supplements.

Avoid aspartame and artificial sweeteners, which are toxic. They are responsible for causing serious chronic neurological disorders. Antioxidants are essential to brain health, and aspartame kills brain neurons because too much calcium gets into the cells.

Lifestyle changes need to be made in order to reverse MS. Along with the above recommendations, it's important to eliminate sugar, and especially fructose, pasteurized dairy products, and commercial fruit juices. Fermented vegetables and raw fruits and vegetables are extremely important to good health and for the reversal of different autoimmune diseases. At the same time, it is important to check iron levels, as too much or too little can cause a problem.

A Mercury detox would also prove beneficial in the quest to reverse MS. As is common knowledge, Mercury is a poison, and especially damaging to anyone suffering from this chronic disease. Having said that, large fish are known to contain high levels of mercury, so they should be avoided.
